Fear

Well I don't have a story around 12 years old but I have a really good story when I was about 7-8 years old (2nd grade). So during the summer, I was having my birthday party with my friends around the camp fire. The house I was at at the time had a huge broken down barn right next to the camp fire we were sitting at and a lot of tall weeds all around it too. But that night my mom, being smart, decided to tell a large group of 2nd grade girls the story of The Hook (if you don't know the story, look it up and you'll understand). Now hopefully you can imagine a large group of girls in the dark, around a camp fire, by a creepy broken down barn, and tall weeds that could be seen through while my mother is telling us this story. Once my mom was done telling us this story, we bolted back into the house screeming our heads off while checking to see if The Hook was chasing us. We didn't sleep at all that night because we were so scared. My story relates to the boys on the island because they are scared of the beastie who they think might come attack them the same way we thought about The Hook.

Final Blog

This year brought new technologies to the classroom that I had not experienced before. To begin, when Mr. Ayer showed his class how to make a wiki page, I thought it was an amazing opportunity to learn how to get other people involved in what we were learning all at the same time rather than reteaching the subject over and over again. The 'wiki' was a great way to do assignments and find quizes to study for tests. In addition, Mr. Ayer's wiki became not only an English study habit, but for other classes too. In the next few weeks, the wiki page began to spread ideas for other teachers like wildfire. Going into the 3rd month of school, I made almost three wikis which helped me study for many subjects. Pursuing this further, Mr. Ayer introduced us to a new piece of technology called blogger. Obviously, by using it right now for the first time, I can say that I enjoy it very much and it is easy to use. Finally, looking back to the beginning of the school year, our class did evaulations on whether we knew how to use different forms of the internet. Now I know how to use a wiki, blogger, shelfari, and many other internet pages for studying in school. All in all, the new technologies have helped my grade and my study habits increasingly improve.
